Three new videos on YouTube
Three new videos on the flickollect YouTube channel demonstrate how to use the updated service:
- Adding films and series — from an empty collection to complete entries with descriptions, cast, crew, and images. Using Dune, Breaking Bad, and The Boy's Word as examples, the video shows automatic data entry and how to add seasons and episodes.
- Customizing a film page — how to expand and edit imported information, create your own subgenres, and personalize the page's appearance.
- Insights 2.0 overview — finding and comparing films with filters and sorting, exploring different collection views, saving views for later, and exporting to Excel.
These walkthroughs complement the written help: if a feature's description leaves you unsure how it works or where to start, you can see it in action and follow the steps in your own collection. The videos have Russian narration, with Russian and English subtitles available.

Important update: Insights 2.0
Insights has become a complete collection exploration tool, with flexible layouts, advanced filters, and reusable workflows.
The section has a new design and four ways to browse results: table, detailed cards, compact cards, and a poster grid. Data can be switched between general information, cast and crew, finance, and awards. Filters are much more comprehensive, multi-column sorting has been added, and every mode now shares a consistent localized interface with its own detailed help guide.
Filter and sorting state is now stored in the page address, making a result set shareable and allowing browser navigation to restore earlier states. Frequently used combinations can be stored as named saved views, while the new export dialog lets you choose both the range of rows and the fields included in the Excel file.

New tool: automatic Oscar data import
A film's Oscar nominations and wins can now be added to your collection in just a few clicks.
A new Oscar tool is now available under Awards. It finds available nominations and wins for the selected film and presents them in a dedicated preview window.
Before saving, you can review the year, category, status, and recipient of every entry, then select only the data you need. Confidently recognized entries are selected in advance. If a recipient cannot be linked to a person already associated with the film, their name is saved in Notes. Unknown categories remain visible for review but are not imported automatically.
The tool works safely with an existing awards list: saved entries are neither changed nor created again. After import, the result can be adjusted with the regular Add, Edit, and Delete commands.
The feature is released as a beta. Its data comes from an external source and may be incomplete or contain errors, so we recommend reviewing the prepared list carefully before adding it.

New tool: character portrait editor
A suitable film frame can now be turned into a finished character portrait directly in flickollect—without external graphics software.
Collection Manager now includes a dedicated character portrait editor. A screenshot from a film, a production still, a promotional image, or any other suitable photograph can be used as the source.
After loading the image, simply position and resize the frame to create the desired composition. The portrait proportions are preserved automatically, while the live preview immediately shows how the image will look on the character card.
For frames that are too dark, midtone brightness can be adjusted to reveal details without overexposing the entire image. The finished result is automatically brought within the service's format and file-size requirements, ready to be saved to the collection.
The new editor turns a familiar multi-stage image workflow into one clear process—from the original frame to the finished character portrait.
Important update: free Trial
You can now try everything flickollect has to offer for free—one calendar month of full access with a collection of up to five films.
Users who have not previously purchased a paid subscription can activate a free Trial once. No bank card is required to activate it.
During the Trial, all core service features are available: creating a personal database, working in Collection Manager, viewing statistics in Insights, and building film and people pages. The only restriction is that the collection can contain no more than five films at the same time. There is no separate limit on people or other related data.
The Trial can be switched to the paid plan at any time, allowing you to continue working without a film limit.
The Trial does not renew or turn into a paid subscription automatically. When it ends, collection editing becomes unavailable, but the personal database and its film and people pages remain available for viewing for another 12 calendar months.

Important update: a new design for film and person pages
Film and person pages are now more beautiful, cohesive, and convenient—making this one of flickollect's most distinctive interface updates yet.
We have thoroughly redesigned the presentation of personal collections. Information panels now share a consistent translucent background, fine borders with color accents, aligned dimensions and spacing, refined scrollbars, and more expressive controls.
The film page now presents essential details, ratings, technical specifications, countries, and companies more clearly. The tabs for plots, characters, crew, awards, box office, episodes, photos, trailers, and links have all been refreshed. New character gallery layouts, a more compact crew presentation, and a photo counter have also been added.
Person pages now use the same cohesive visual language. Biographies, filmographies, portrayed characters, crew credits, awards, galleries, and links form a single polished interface. Character and credit lists are more informative thanks to images, film types, release years, and date sorting.
This update goes beyond appearance: the new layouts handle long titles and missing data more reliably, while adapting more consistently to different screen sizes.

Important update: automatic episode guides
A detailed episode guide can now be created in just a few clicks. flickollect prepares the structure of a film or series, leaving you to review the result and select the cards you need.
Two new tools are now available under Episodes, one for feature films and another for series. They remove much of the manual work involved in entering titles, descriptions, dates, runtimes, ratings, and images.
For a film, the application analyses an available detailed plot and suggests a coherent breakdown of the story into episodes. The result opens as a read-only draft that can be accepted in full or rejected without changing the collection. Existing user entries are never removed; new episodes are appended to the current list.
For a series, flickollect identifies seasons and episodes that are still missing from the guide and presents them in a dedicated selection window. You can select an entire season, its season card, or individual episodes. Up to 100 cards can be added in one operation, making even a large series easy to import in stages.
The selected text language and the series’ country of origin are applied automatically. When available, cards receive titles, descriptions, release dates, runtimes, ratings, season posters, and episode stills. Images are saved directly to the collection and optimized automatically.
The feature is safe to use with an existing guide: saved cards are neither changed nor created again. Newly added seasons and episodes are placed in their natural order and are immediately ready to appear on the film page.

Important update: adding films is now much easier
We have completed a major Collection Manager upgrade focused on automating data entry. The main goal is to reduce the time required to create a complete film record without taking control away from the collector.
A complete film record now starts with a single IMDb ID or link. flickollect takes care of the main routine work.
The service finds available information from external sources, prepares the data, and opens a completed form for review before saving.
The following information can be prepared automatically:
- essential film details, including its type, production countries, and genres;
- a description, synopsis, and other text;
- technical specifications, ratings, and box-office data;
- production companies and distributors;
- key crew members;
- actors and the characters they portray;
- people records with short biographies, portraits, and information links;
- a primary poster, film images, and a page backdrop.
Different crew selection rules are applied to series, miniseries, and feature films so that a collection is not overloaded with secondary data. The roles catalog has also been redesigned with consistent role names, a department structure, and support for both English and Russian.
Collection settings let you choose the language of imported data and how it should be added. Automatic mode is designed to create a ready-to-use record quickly, while Selective mode lets you decide which companies, crew members, actors, and characters should be saved.
At the same time, flickollect remains a flexible tool for collectors. All prepared information can be reviewed and corrected, while missing details can be added later—manually or in groups. Automation handles the routine work, but the final decision always remains with the collection owner.

A more convenient Collection Manager
We have updated the interface of Collection Manager, the primary tool for working with a personal collection. Buttons, tables, and dialog windows now share a more modern and consistent design, making data management clearer and more polished.
We paid particular attention to image management. You can now select and delete several files at once, clear a gallery in a single action, sort images by filename, and manage the film page backdrop more conveniently. The updated preview window adapts correctly to the screen size and different image formats.
This update preserves the familiar Collection Manager structure while making everyday work with a collection faster and more enjoyable.

Important update: collection access after a subscription expires
Your collection stays with you. After a subscription expires, the personal database remains available for viewing for another 12 calendar months.
During this period, Insights continues to show films from the personal collection, and the added film and people pages remain available. Collection, along with all data creation, editing, and deletion operations, is unavailable until the subscription is renewed.
Renewing the subscription restores full collection access. At the end of the 12-month period, access to personal data ends and the data may be deleted.
