FAQ
1. General information about the service
What is flickollect?
flickollect is a modern system for cataloguing and analyzing film collections, designed for convenient work with personal film archives.Who is this service for?
For collectors who need a flexible, visual, and functional tool to manage and analyze their personal film collection.
How is flickollect different from Letterboxd, IMDb, and other sites?
- Letterboxd is a social network where film pages are managed by the platform owners.
- IMDb, Kinopoisk, Wikipedia are large information portals with huge amounts of data.
- flickollect is a personal tool: the user decides what information to store and how to design film cards. No imposed social features.
What languages is the interface available in?
The interface is available in English and Russian. The home page, About, FAQ, and News have separate Russian and English addresses. English versions use the /en prefix; the address determines the language of these pages. In other sections, the service uses your saved language choice, or Russian if you have not chosen a language yet. Use the language switcher in the site header at any time — no registration or sign-in is required.
2. Working with your collection
How do I add a film?
- Activate Trial or get a paid subscription.
- Go to Collection → Films.
- Click the Add button.
Why does adding a film or person start with an IMDb link or ID?
IMDb is one of the largest and best-known databases about film and television. Each title and person has a unique identifier, known as an IMDb ID. It helps distinguish films with the same title and people with the same name.
Flickollect uses IMDb IDs as a common reference: the ID of each film or person in your collection is based on their IMDb ID. The service uses this identifier to match records across other film databases and find information about the specific film or person you have selected. An IMDb link therefore gives automatic data entry a precise starting point.
This does not mean that all information comes from IMDb. Details may come from different sources, and you can review, expand, and edit them in your collection.
Can I import my collection from other services?
No, import is not supported.
Can I upload my own posters and images?
Yes, you can upload your own images and posters.
Are there limits on the maximum size and number of images per film?
Yes. For up-to-date information, please refer to the help section when adding images to a film.
Is there a limit on the size of the collection?
With Trial, the collection may contain up to 5 films at a time. The paid subscription has no film limit; neither plan limits the number of people.
What are “persons”, “characters”, and “crew”?
-
Persons — everyone involved in the creation of the film.
Add:Collection → Persons → Add. -
Characters — film characters and the actors who play them.
Add:Collection → Films → [film] → Cast → Add. -
Crew — members of the production team other than actors.
Add:Collection → Films → [film] → Crew → Add.
Collection language
Data in the database can be in any language. The interface layout is oriented toward left‑to‑right European languages. Right‑to‑left scripts and complex hieroglyphic writing systems are not supported.
3. Security and privacy
Can other users see my collection?
No. Your collection is private.
Who has access to my data?
The site administration has technical access to the data.
Are my files stored securely?
Yes, files are stored in accordance with current security measures.
What happens if I delete my account?
Self-service account deletion by the user is currently not provided.
For details, see the Privacy Policy section.
4. Subscription and payment
Which plans are available?
Two plans are available:
- Trial — free for one calendar month, with all service features, up to 5 films in the collection, and no limit on people;
- Full subscription — 395 rubles per month, with all features and no limit on films or people.
Can Trial be activated more than once?
No. Trial is available only once for an account with no previous subscription history.
Can I upgrade from Trial before it ends?
Yes, at any time. The paid subscription starts as soon as the payment is confirmed; unused Trial time is not added to it.
What happens if Trial or the paid subscription expires?
After the plan period expires, the personal collection remains available in read-only mode for 12 calendar months. Insights continues to show films from the personal database, and the added film and people pages remain available.
Collection is unavailable during this period: data and images cannot be added, edited, or deleted. Renewing the subscription restores full collection access. At the end of the 12-month period, access to personal data ends and the data may be deleted.
What payment methods are available?
Payments are processed via the YooKassa payment system.
The available payment methods are determined by the payment system and currently include:
- bank cards;
- SberPay.
The list of available payment methods may be expanded in the future, including the addition of the Faster Payments System (SBP).
Are plans renewed automatically?
The paid monthly subscription renews automatically unless the User cancels it before the end of the current paid period. Trial requires no payment card and does not renew automatically.
When does the automatic charge occur?
The automatic charge is performed 24 hours before the end of the current paid subscription period.
What happens if the automatic charge fails?
One charge attempt is made.
If the charge is unsuccessful, automatic renewal is disabled, and access to the Service remains available until the end of the previously paid period.
Can automatic renewal be canceled?
Yes. The User may cancel automatic renewal at any time in their personal account.
5. Technical questions
Which devices does flickollect work on?
Flickollect is available on most devices with a modern web browser, but functionality depends on the screen type:
- Viewing films and people — available on all devices, including smartphones. On smaller screens, some information may be hidden due to limited space.
- Insights section — works on all devices, but functionality is significantly reduced on mobile screens.
- Working with the collection (editing data) — available only on devices with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 or higher. This may be a PC, laptop, or a TV with sufficient resolution.
Do I need to install an app?
No, installation is not required — the service runs in the browser.
Why are images loading slowly?
Speed depends on:
- your internet connection;
- the size and number of uploaded files;
- initial loading (the first page load may take longer; repeat visits are faster due to caching).
What should I do if something doesn’t work correctly?
Contact support by email: support@flickollect.ru.
6. Authentication and Sign-In
What sign-in methods are available?
flickollect supports the following authentication methods:- OAuth sign-in via providers:
- Yandex
- Magic Link — passwordless sign-in via email
The user enters an email address, receives a message with a sign-in link, and is authenticated by following that link.
The service does not use passwords.
What happens on the first sign-in?
When you sign in for the first time, a new account is created and linked to the selected authentication method:
- when signing in via Google or Yandex, the account is linked to the corresponding OAuth provider;
- when signing in via Magic Link, the account is linked to the specified email address.
How does email and sign-in method linking work?
Scenario 1
First sign-in via OAuth provider, then sign-in via Magic Link using the same email
If you:
- first sign in using, for example, Google;
- then sign in via Magic Link, entering the same email address associated with your Google account,
→ your email will be verified, and you will be signed into the same account that was created during the initial OAuth sign-in.
Scenario 2
First sign-in via Magic Link, then attempt to sign in via OAuth with the same email
If you:
- first sign in using Magic Link;
- then attempt to sign in via an OAuth provider (Google or Yandex) linked to the same email address,
→ the sign-in attempt will be rejected and the following message will be displayed:
This email is already registered by another method.
Please sign in with the method you used to register.
This restriction is enforced for security reasons.
Scenario 3
Signing in via different OAuth providers using the same email
If you:
- first sign in via Google;
- then attempt to sign in via Yandex, while both providers are linked to the same email address,
→ the sign-in attempt will be rejected with the same message indicating a mismatched authentication method.
This behavior is part of the service’s security policy.
Scenario 4
Signing in using different emails
If you:
- use different email addresses;
- or sign in via the same provider using different emails,
→ separate accounts will be created for each email address.
The service does not automatically merge such accounts.
Why do these restrictions exist?
This authentication model is designed to:
- prevent account hijacking;
- protect user data;
- ensure a clear and unambiguous link between an account and its sign-in method.
This is a standard practice for services using OAuth and passwordless authentication.
Can I change my sign-in method or merge accounts?
At this time:
- changing the sign-in method is not supported;
- account merging is not available.
It is recommended to always use the same authentication method you selected during registration.
How do I delete my account?
User-initiated account deletion is not supported.
Can I restore deleted data?
No, restoring deleted data is not supported.
7. DEMO Mode
What is DEMO mode?
DEMO mode is designed to let users explore the core features of Flickollect without registration or an active subscription.
It allows you to evaluate the visual design of film and people pages, as well as the analytical capabilities of the service.
Images, posters, and rating values used in DEMO mode are the property of their respective rights holders. IMDb, Kinopoisk, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic ratings are used for demonstration purposes only.
flickollect is not affiliated with or endorsed by these services.How can I enter DEMO mode?
Enter DEMO mode by selecting Take A Look on the home page. This opens Insights with data from the demonstration database.
The button is shown:
- to unregistered users;
- to registered users who no longer have access to a personal collection: they have never activated Trial or a paid subscription, or their 12-month read-only period has ended.
Users with an active Trial or paid subscription and former subscribers viewing their personal collection in read-only mode do not enter DEMO mode.
How is post-subscription read-only access different from DEMO mode?
For 12 calendar months after a subscription expires, Insights and film and people pages use the user's personal database in read-only mode.
DEMO mode uses a public demonstration database that is not connected to the personal collection. Editing is unavailable in both modes, but a former subscriber's personal data is not replaced by demonstration data until the 12-month period ends.
What data is used in DEMO mode?
DEMO mode uses a demonstration database that is not connected to user collections.
The Insights page displays information about several films preloaded into this database. Selecting a film title opens its film page; selecting an actor or crew member’s name opens that person’s page.
What is the purpose of DEMO mode?
The primary goal of DEMO mode is to demonstrate the film page template and the overall data visualization approach.
It is important to note that:
- the content of the template is fully defined by the user;
- the final appearance of a film page depends on:
- the selected background,
- posters,
- character images,
- the structure and depth of the information provided.
As a result, each user creates a unique visual representation of a film page, reflecting their personal approach to collecting.
Which features are available in DEMO mode?
The following features are available in DEMO mode:
- viewing film and people pages from the demo database;
- access to the Insights tool to explore the service’s analytical capabilities.
Which features are not available in DEMO mode?
The collection management tools are not available in DEMO mode:
- adding films is not possible;
- editing data is not possible;
- deleting records is not possible;
- uploading personal images is not possible.
Full collection management requires registration and an active Trial or paid subscription.
8. Content and copyright
Can I upload any images?
Yes, you can upload any images for personal use within your collection.
What if the uploaded images violate copyright?
Images are intended for personal viewing within a private collection. In case of disputes, please refer to the Privacy Policy section and contact support.
Who is responsible for uploaded content?
The user is responsible for the uploaded content. The service provides storage space and does not pre‑moderate the content.
9. Feedback
Where can I report a bug?
Please send your reports to support@flickollect.ru.
